FSM 128 C2C and FSM 128L C2C Automated Wafer Handling

Both systems integrate automated cassette-to-cassette wafer handling with non-contact laser measurement technology. The systems are designed to support semiconductor production environments where repeatable wafer measurement and reduced operator involvement are important.

  • Automated wafer loading from input cassette
  • Wafer transfer to the measurement station
  • Non-contact wafer curvature and bow measurement
  • Programmable wafer rotation and multiple scan orientations
  • Automated measurement data collection and analysis
  • Wafer return to cassette after measurement
  • Sequential wafer measurement for production monitoring

The FSM 128L C2C offers larger-wafer capability, with open cassette or FOUP configurations depending on system configuration.

Working Principle – Wafer Bow and Film Stress Measurement

The FSM 128 C2C and FSM 128L C2C use non-contact laser scanning technology to measure semiconductor wafer curvature. A laser beam scans across the wafer surface, and the reflected beam is detected to determine changes in wafer surface slope and curvature.

Multiple scans at different wafer orientations generate wafer bow and curvature maps. The system software processes the measurement data to evaluate wafer deformation and calculate the radius of curvature.

Thin film stress is calculated from the change in substrate curvature before and after film deposition using the appropriate substrate properties, film thickness, and stress calculation model, such as Stoney’s equation where applicable.

Automated wafer handling allows these measurements to be performed sequentially without manually loading each wafer into the measurement station.
